What Is Lip Neutralization?
Dark lip neutralization in Dubai — also called dark lip correction or lip colour correction — is a semi-permanent tattoo for lips that are darker than you want them to be. Instead of covering the darkness with a pink shade, which would heal grey or purple, the artist uses corrective pigments to cancel it.
It works on colour theory: dark lips usually carry cool blue, purple or brown tones, and the opposite warm tones — peach, orange or coral — neutralise them. The corrector is chosen for your lips specifically. As it heals, the dark tone fades into a more even, lighter, natural lip colour.
Lip neutralization is a step, not always the finish. Some clients are happy with the even base; others add lip blush once the lips are neutralised to get the shade they want.

Lip Neutralization Procedure Step by Step
Each session is booked as a 1.5-hour slot.
We look at the lips in daylight, find the undertone of the darkness and how even it is, and estimate how many sessions you may need.
The artist chooses or mixes the corrective shade — peach, orange or coral — for your lips.
Numbing cream is applied before and during the procedure.
The corrector is placed over the dark areas with a fine needle, with extra attention to the border.
We look at the result, explain how it will change while healing and book the next session.
You leave with the balm and written instructions.

How to Prepare for Your Lip Appointment
A few days of preparation make the lips bleed less and hold more colour.
Moisturise your lips every day; dry, flaky lips take pigment unevenly.
If you have ever had a cold sore, ask your doctor about an antiviral course before the appointment.
Pause fish oil, vitamin E and other blood-thinning supplements (only if your doctor agrees).
No alcohol or coffee.
No lip filler; if you plan filler, do it first and come to us once it has settled.
Come without lipstick. If you have a favourite lip shade, bring it — it helps colour matching.

Lip Neutralization Healing Timeline
Lips heal faster than brows but change colour more dramatically on the way. This is what is normal. With correctors the fresh colour can look orange or coral at first — that is expected and it calms down as it heals.
Lips look bold, bright and slightly swollen. Keep them clean and use the balm we give you; drink through a straw.
Lips feel dry and start to peel. Let the flakes come off on their own — picking pulls pigment out.
Peeling ends and the colour looks much paler, sometimes almost gone. This is the milky new skin layer, not lost pigment.
Colour returns from inside the lip and warms up.
The true healed colour is visible. This is when we judge evenness and plan the top-up.
Colour stays stable; sun, smoking and exfoliating lip products decide how fast it fades.
Durability
How Long Does Lip Neutralization Last?
Results usually last 1 to 2 years. Sun and smoking bring the dark tone back faster; an SPF lip balm is the best protection.
Most clients need 1 to 3 sessions, depending on how dark the lips are. Very dark lips are corrected gradually: forcing too much pigment in one session heals unevenly. Sessions are spaced to let the lips heal fully in between, and we look at the healed colour before deciding on the next step.

Sun is one of the causes of dark lips, and in Dubai it is constant. Without protection, corrected lips can darken again faster than you would like.
A lip balm with SPF, reapplied during the day, is the main habit we ask for. Smoking and shisha darken the lips too; cutting down helps the correction last longer.
Maintain Your Lips
Lip Neutralization Aftercare
Aftercare is the same as for any lip tattoo — and just as important.
Keep the lips moist with the aftercare balm for the first days; never let them crack.
Avoid kissing, hot drinks and spicy or salty food for the first 48 hours.
No peeling, biting or scrubbing; let the skin come off naturally.
No lipstick, gloss or other balms apart from the one we give you until the lips have healed.
No direct sun, swimming, sauna or steam for 2 weeks; then use a lip SPF outdoors.
Use a straw for the first days and rinse the lips gently with clean water after meals.
Safety First
Contraindications: When We Postpone
Lips are a sensitive area. If any of these apply, tell us when you book.
Not during an outbreak — wait until it has fully healed (2+ weeks). If you get cold sores, take an antiviral course before the appointment as your doctor prescribes.
We postpone lip tattooing until after nursing.
Wait at least 4 weeks after filler so the shape settles.
Stop and wait 6 months before lip tattooing.
Not while there is an active flare.
Uncontrolled diabetes or clotting disorders need a doctor’s note first.
